I made a Christmas bauble wreath in minutes – all you need is an old coat hanger and it will look so expensive
IT’S almost time to dust off your Christmas decorations and put up your tree, or maybe you’ve already done it?
Either way, you don’t have to break the bank to create a festive space this winter, in fact all you need is an old coat hanger.
Sara showed off the DIY wreath on Instagram leaving Christmas fans stunned[/caption] The finished wreath looked so impressive and only cost a few quid to make[/caption]Crafting Queen Sara Davies recently took to social media to show off her hack and the result looks mega expensive, despite only costing a few quid.
So, what do you need to make the DIY wreath?
A wire clothes hanger, which you might be able to find tucked away at the back of your wardrobe, and some baubles – you can use any leftover ones from your tree or buy a multipack from shops like B&M and The Range for as little as £5.
Start by carefully splitting the clothes hanger and bending it into a circle, Sara wrapped it around her waist to get the shape right but you could just eyeball it.
Then simply thread on your baubles.
“[There’s] no pattern or order to it, just pop them on randomly in any sizes and colours that you like,” Sara explained on Instagram.
If you buy a multipack of baubles like Sara they will all be the same shade, or you could mix and match for something a little more eccentric – it’s totally up to you.
Once the wreath is full of baubles twist the top of the hanger back together and secure with some tape.
You can even add a big bow to the top for some added festive fun.
“And there you have it! Is that not the best Christmas Wreath EVER?!
It’s so cheap, quick and easy to make, but look how fabulous it is – I am totally obsessed, and it’s a bold claim, but this might be one of my favourite ever Christmas crafts,” Sara added.
Christmas DIY fans loved the simple yet effective idea on Instagram too.
One commented on the clip: “I did this last year and it looked great on my front door.”
“Love this hack, I’ve been doing this for years. You can wrap tinsel around the wire to make it look fuller,” a second said.
And a third chimed in: “I LOVE this! Defo doing one this year.”
“You’ve inspired me to try it this year, yours looks so good, let’s see,” another wrote.
Other Christmas DIY hacks
If you’re getting thrifty this festive season there are plenty of other money-saving hacks to help decorate your home.
Last year DIY whizz Alex Lawson showed off her nifty trick to make the perfect DIY garland in your doorway using a tension rod.
She said: “You get a tension rod or shower pole, put it between the area you want to put it up, then thread your garland round and put it up to your desired height.
“I picked up this tension rod from the bathroom section at Homebase and everything else I already had.”
After some additional fluffing the garland looked perfect and like it was done by a professional.
Prices for tension rods in Homebase start from just £2.50, making it a very affordable hack.
And social media users loved it too, with Alex’s clip racking up more than 116,000 views.
One said: “Okay I wanna remove one of our doors from its hinges just so I can do this.”
A second wrote: “Absolutely stunning, it creates such impact.”
“This is amazing, I’m definitely doing this”, gushed a third.
