UK’s highest campsite has cosy camping pods and views of the country’s tallest mountain
THE UK’s highest campsite is set below one of the UK’s tallest peaks.
Glen Nevis Holidays claims to be the highest campsite in the UK, found in Fort William.
Glen Nevis Holidays is an award-winning campsite that’s located underneath the shadows of Ben Nevis[/caption]Set below Ben Nevis, which is the highest peak in the UK, the camping space has been divided into separate meadows.
The separate meadows aim to give the Scottish campsite a more intimate and “small-time feel” – according to a team of camping experts from Go Outdoors.
There are five different fields dedicated to tent campers, many of which camp at Glen Nevis Holidays after tackling the huge peak.
A further four fields also have pitches for motorhomes, or you can book one of their camping pods.
While the campsite doesn’t have an on-site restaurant, The Glen Nevis Restaurant is located on its boundary.
A food van that serves breakfast rolls and fish and chips can also be found at the campsite between May and August.
The Scottish campsite has 4.5/5 star rating from thousands of reviews on TripAdvisor.
One person wrote: “A fantastic location and a lovely site, with amazing views of Ben Nevis.
“It’s amazing to sit out on a night and see all the stars, as well as the torches coming down the mountain”.
Another person added: “The views from the site were outstanding, so beautiful”.
The campsite is now closed for the season although will reopen again in March 2025 and run until November 5.
However you can already book a stay, with a free stay when booking three nights.
Holidaymakers who’ve stayed overnight at Glen Nevis Holidays will most likely be climbing the huge mountain – although there are other things to do nearby.
Glen Nevis Holidays is a five-minute drive from Fort William, which is home to a string of pubs, restaurants and shops.

The town of Fort William is located at the end of the West Highland Way – a popular walking route in Scotland.
Those who don’t want to hike for a week to reach the Scottish town will be relieved to know there’s a direct train service between the two destinations.
Scotland’s West Highland Line has previously been dubbed the best rail journey in the world by Wanderlust – and it’s easy to see why.
With mountain landscapes, serene lochs, wistful moors, and wildlife all visible through the train window, it’s certainly a route all holidaymakers should consider doing at least once.

The pancake-flat Caledonian Canal is ideal for family strolls, while the stretch around Neptune’s Staircase, a famous flight of rising locks, has a view of Ben Nevis as a backdrop.
