The best pizza place in the UK revealed and the full list of runners up – is one near you?
THE best pizza place in the UK and the full list of runners up has been revealed, but is one near you?
Every year, pizza chefs from across the country showcase their signature recipes in a bid to claim the National Pizza of the Year title.
Now the winner has been revealed, we know exactly where to go to find the perfect slice.
The live cook-off, which took place on November 12, 2024 at London‘s Big Penny Social in London saw Bad Boy Pizza Society claim the title for the second time.
The independent pizzeria started out as a parody University society but now it’s trumped 15 other pizzerias found across the country.
Its signature “Sausage Party” pizza, made by chef Damodar Niksic blew the judges away.
The 16″ New York-style pizza dough is made with a secret 48-hour ferment method, then topped with tomato sauce, fennel sausage, stracciatella, red chili, lemon zest, Parmigiano Reggiano, basil and a caramelised fennel and onion mix.
Damodar said: “This is very dreamlike. I have worked very hard to get where I am. Bad Boy Pizza Society is only bad boy by name – we are a big family and we all support each other with ideas.
“Yes, I made this pizza today, but everyone has worked so hard alongside me. Unity and family are good things, and winning this is down to my Bad Boy pizza family.”
In second place was Rudy’s Pizzza Napoletana with The Lorenzo pizza, made by chef Lorenzo Vittiglio.
The Lorenzo is a combination of mascarpone cream, fior di latte, Calabrian ventricina of simonini, parmesan, green chilli, roquito peppers, basil and piennolo tomatoes.
And in third place, was Due Forni’s pizza Ragu Pazzo, made by chef Michele Rutigliano.
The pizza features a homemade ragu sauce topped with homemade bechamel.
