Josh Widdicombe says you can ‘grate feta off my abs’ as he reveals perk to signing up for Strictly’s Christmas special
COMEDIAN Josh Widdicombe has admitted he’s found a surprising plus side to signing up to the Strictly Come Dancing Christmas Special.
The 41-year-old star, famed for his appearances on The Last Leg and Live At The Apollo, became the first star confirmed to appear on this year’s festive dance-off this week.
Josh appeared on Saturday Kitchen and revealed how training was going[/caption] Josh joked you can ‘grate feta off his abs’ after the gruelling training[/caption]Since then he’s been hard at work in the rehearsal studio.
Appearing on Saturday Kitchen, Josh said: “It’s kind of overshadowing everything else right now in my life.
“Yeah, I agreed to do Christmas Strictly, and I’ll be honest, I feel now like I’m a dancer that occasionally does comedy.
“It’s quite full on, and I’ve had more messages from people in my [life] more excited about that than the rest of my career put together!”
However, host Matt Tebbutt said it must be nice for him to be able to eat what he wants to keep his energy up.
“Oh, mate, that’s the best thing about it,” Josh continued. “The amount of exercise… I’m like a Premier League footballer!
“Honestly, you could grate your feta on my abs if you want to!”
Josh will be partnered with long-standing Strictly pro Karen Hauer for the special.
The show will be pre-recorded and air on Christmas Day, with each star fighting for the special festive trophy.
Karen competed in the main Strictly competition this year with Paul Merson, although they were eliminated in week five.
Currently, he is one of three stars who have been announced, joining RuPaul’s Drag Race UK queen Tayce, and TV presenter Vogue Williams.
Tayce is paired up with Kai Widdrington, while Vogue will dance with Carlos Gu.
The rest of the line-up will be confirmed in the upcoming days.
