Central Texas Food Bank providing 30,000 meals this holiday season
AUSTIN (KXAN) — The Central Texas Food Bank is gearing up to provide 30,000 turkeys, fresh produce and holiday sides at 23 locations throughout the 21 counties CTFB provides services to.
Central Texas Food Bank helps feed over 90,000 people each week, but food insecurity is felt more around the holidays, said Sari Vatske, president and CEO of Central Texas Food Bank.
“This holiday season, and every day, our goal is to ensure every Central Texan has access to
nutritious food," said Vatske. "It's not just about the distribution of food, it’s also about fostering a sense of community and togetherness.”
Making a difference this season can mean donating or volunteering to distribute food. Holiday volunteering opportunities fill quickly, but your help is valuable year-round. Check its website to see how and when you can get involved.
KXAN is also hosting the 2024 Friendsgiving Challenge to help raise money for the food bank. Learn how you can participate here.
Central Texas Food Bank is the largest hunger-relief charity in Central Texas, with 40 years of service in their past, they hope to shape a healthier future for all.
