Stefanik Cabinet nomination to impact state Republicans
ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) — New York Congresswoman Elise Stefanik was nominated to serve as U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, as part of a series of nominations from President-elect Donald Trump following the 2024 election.
This week on Empire State Weekly, Joseph Pinion, a strategist for the New York G.O.P., explained how the wins in the federal election (winning majorities in the U.S. House and Senate) and the recent nominations to the Trump cabinet impacted Republican strategy in the state.
"If Republicans do what we promised to do, we will be looking at a great many victories. And not just in 2025 but in the future. We have to make the case to New Yorkers that if they are tired of living in pain here in New York, they cannot keep electing the same politicians that have delivered that pain." said Pinion.
Also this week, Forest Ranger Captain Scott Jackson explained the state's response to recent wildfires and dry conditions across New York. He also detailed the steps hunters can take to reduce fire risks as they hunt in dry conditions.
"You are responsible for your fire. You need to stay in attendance until it's out cold, and have something on hand to put it out, whether it's buckets of water or some leaf rakes," said Jackson.
