Arrest made in Poughkeepsie homicide investigation
POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The City of Poughkeepsie Police Department (CPPD) reported that an arrest has been made in a homicide investigation. Shrone Wright, 51, was charged with second-degree murder.
Wright is accused of fatally stabbing a 50-year-old man in Pershing Park on November 6. He was taken into custody on November 13 after being identified as a suspect during the ensuing investigation conducted by Poughkeepsie Police and New York State Police.
The identity of the victim has yet to be released. Wright was remanded to the Dutchess County Jail following his arraignment.
"We remain steadfast in our commitment to pursuing justice for the victim and enhancing the safety of our community," said CPPD Detective Lieutenant Sean McCarthy. "The City of Poughkeepsie Police Department is grateful to the public for their cooperation and support."
