Highway 24 reopening in Topeka
TOPEKA (KSNT) - The Kansas Department of Transportation shared an update on the work on Highway 24 on Friday, Nov. 15.
According to KDOT, all lanes of Highway 24 between Kansas Avenue and Goldwater Road in north Topeka will be reopening on Nov. 16, weather permitting. KDOT said the north and south frontage roads will return to their original head-to-head configuration.
KDOT said Kansas Avenue and Goldwater Road and median crossovers in the area will remain closed.
The work came as part of a pavement reconstruction project between North Topeka and Grantville. The project covers approximately six miles from the Kansas Avenue intersection to Muddy Creek in Jefferson County. The $64 million reconstruction project is expected to be completed in 2027, according to KDOT.
