Hallmark 'Star Wars' ornament recalled over mold
WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – A Hallmark Keepsake Christmas tree ornament has been recalled over the possibility of it growing mold. The company says 16 customers have already complained about it happening.
The Consumer Product Safety Commission says the brown paint on the "Star Wars"-themed ornament did not fully dry before packaging, causing the mold to grow.
Mold can cause respiratory problems, the agency noted.
The recalled ornament is in the shape of the Cad Bane bounty hunter character, who has appeared in "Star Wars: The Book of Boba Fett" and "The Clone Wars." An identifying code on the bottom of the ornament's box reads 2199QXE3341.
The ornaments were sold Hallmark Gold Crown stores and Hallmark.com from September to October, the CPSC notice says. They were priced at around $22 each.
Consumers who purchased the ornament are urged to stop using it, or, if it's unopened, to leave it unopened. Hallmark is providing refunds at its stores; customers can also contact Hallmark support online to request a pre-paid return label.
Anyone with further questions can contact Hallmark at 1-800-425-5627.
