Election Day terror plot suspect pleads not guilty
OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) — Nasir Tawhedi, the 27-year-old man arrested in October for allegedly attempting to purchase guns for an Election Day terrorist plot, entered a plea of not guilty on Thursday.
Tawhedi and an unnamed juvenile were arrested by FBI agents in early October while reportedly attempting to purchase two AK-47s, ten magazines and 500 rounds of ammunition in an unspecified rural location in Oklahoma.
On November 6, a federal grand jury charged Tawhedi with conspiracy to provide material support or resources to a designated foreign terrorist organization, attempt to provide material support or resources to a designated foreign terrorist organization, and receipt of a firearm and ammunition to be used to commit a felony or a federal crime of terrorism.
According to court documents, Tawhedi will remain in jail until his jury docket on January 13.
