Sam Allardyce pinpoints what he believes Ange Postecoglou is ‘not very good’ at
Sam Allardyce believes that Ange Postecoglou has one major weakness, which is the main reason why the media continues to question him.
Ange Postecoglou was not a happy man last Sunday
As one would expect, Ange Postecoglou was not a happy man following Tottenham’s shock 2-1 loss to Ipswich Town last Sunday, with disappointment apparent in his voice and his body language following the final whistle.
The Australian protected the players once again, taking responsibility for the result and insisting that it is up to him to make Spurs a more consistent side (Football.London).
However, Allardyce believes that one of Postecoglou’s traits is not helping his cause with the media.
Sam Allardyce on Postecoglou’s interviews
The former Bolton boss suggested that the Tottenham head coach is not a good interviewee and does not come across well when he speaks to the press.
He insisted that his critics will continue to question him if he does not change the way he addresses the media.
Allardyce said on Seaman Says podcast: “He (Postecoglou) must be totally different on the training ground than he is as an interviewee. You know, there’s a certain level you have to be pretty good at, otherwise people start questioning you.
“He might be the best coach or manager in the world, but people will question you because his interviews are not very good.”
Alan Pardew agrees with Allardyce
Allardyce is not the only former Premier League manager who has been critical of the way Postecoglou comes across in his interviews.
Alan Pardew admitted a few days that he has never seen Postecoglou as down as he was following his side’s loss to Ipswich, and he advised the Australian that his demeanour has to change after bad results.
The 63-year-old told talkSPORT: “I watched Ange’s interview after the game and he looked crestfallen. I’ve never seen him look that down – he looked really down today and that’s a worry for me because we are only 11 games into the season.
“When you have a bad performance as a manager looking crestfallen isn’t the greatest gift that you can give to your fans. You need to say ‘we didn’t have a good day, we had issues and we’re going to bounce back next week’.”
