PlayStation fans think they’ve spotted the date for the next State of Play and it could be in December
PLAYSTATION has released a new trailer for the PS5 following the launch of its upgraded console PS5 Pro.
Nothing seemed out of the ordinary at first, as companies often release new adverts even for older consoles.
PlayStation hosts State of Play showcases several times a year[/caption] The September State of Play closed with a first look at Ghost of Yotei[/caption] A date seen in the latest trailer has people suspcious[/caption]However, PlayStation fans think they spotted a clue in the latest trailer that points to a date for an upcoming State of Play.
One scene is shot at a train station and at one point you can see the board that shows train arrivals and departures.
You can briefly see the time and date as displayed on the board as 8pm on December 3.
Fans believe that this is the date of the next State of Play showcase, where PlayStation reveals the upcoming games coming to its platform.
While people on forums have really clung to this date, it might not be all that it seems.
Firstly, there have already been three State of Play showcases released this year, in January, May and September.
This means that PlayStation usually holds a State of Play every four months, though these are often at the end of a month rather than the start.
This pattern of holding three State of Plays per year – excluding State of Plays based on specific games – has been the form since the event’s inception.
While the months when the State of Plays take place vary, the last December State of Play was back in 2019.
However, December 3, is a very special date for PlayStation, and December 3, 2024, is PlayStation’s 30th anniversary.
While this would be a good date for a surprise State of Play, it could just be that PlayStation chose this date for the advert as a special day.

While PlayStation’s birthday is a great time to host a State of Play, the company already revealed so much in the September show.
PlayStation’s holiday line-up, including the pricey PS5 Pro, have already been released for the season.
We suspect that the date was chosen purely because of its significance, and not because any special event will take place.
