M&S shoppers race to buy ‘stylish and affordable’ scarf coat identical to Toteme’s £800 version

SCARF coats have dominated the outerwear section over the last few winters, and we have Toteme to thank – except for the price tag.

I have searched high and low to find a much more purse friendly alternative, and M&S has delivered with its £75 Textured Detachable Scarf Wrap Coat, which keeps selling out.

At the time of writing this, the M&S’ Textured Detachable Scarf Coat is finally in stock, and in all sizes, after selling out on countless occasions.

The stylish designer alternative retails for £75, which I think is a much more affordable price tag in comparison to Toteme’s staggering £810 creation.

The pair look very similar, but if it means I save £735, it’s a no-brainer!

M&S’ Textured Detachable Scarf Wrap Coat is a stylish jacket to layer over any outfit this season.

You can pair with jeans, a turtleneck, and trainers, a satin slip skirt, or dress, even a mini skirt with knee high boots – it’s super versatile.

What I love is this coat is a bold statement in itself, and you really can let it shine on its own.

Plus, it’s a welcome alternative to cumbersome puffer jackets, which resemble sleeping bags, or leather jackets that are not always the most insulating.

The M&S design boasts a relaxed boxy structure; it is short in length as it skims the hip bones, and features dropped raglan sleeves.

It features a button front fastening, as well as side pocket detail.

But the main talking point is the detachable scarf, which can be wrapped around your neck to keep any pesky chills at bay.

However, if you get too hot you can simply remove and wear it as a collarless jacket too – this coat truly is versatile.

From the structure to the contrast stitch detailing along the hem, sleeves and cuff, is where the main similarities lie between the M&S and Toteme original.

Though Toteme’s stitching is more cream than a pure white tone, plus the scarf features fringed ends.

M&S’ Scarf Coat is unlined, and made from polyester, whereas Toteme’s Scarf Coat has been created using 88% wool and polyester blend.

If you feel the cold I would suggest layering up even more so with M&S’ design.

The M&S Scarf Coat is available in sizes extra small to extra large, but if history is anything to go by I predict this coat will sell out again – and fast!

With 4.5-out-of-5 stars, it’s safe to say I’m not the only fan of the brand.
