19yo poised to make United debut under Amorim, very excited to develop him - report
Manchester United went into the international break on a high note with back-to-back wins.
The Red Devils scored five goals without conceding, and the onus will be on continuing the good form under new manager Ruben Amorim later this month.
Amorim has yet to take charge of training as he awaits his work permit, but he has already been spotted at Carrington, speaking with some of the players not on international duty.
Leny Yoro is one of those who is working on his fitness, having undergone foot surgery in pre-season.
The 19-year-old wonderkid joined United from Lille over the summer, but he has yet to make his competitive debut. He is expected to end the long wait after the break.
Fabrizio Romano has now revealed that Amorim and his staff consider Yoro as one of the most interesting players to develop and they fully agree that he is a ‘generational talent’.
Yoro poised to make United debut under Amorim
The Lille graduate is one of the best young centre-backs around. He is strong with the ball at his feet and has an aerial presence. He should become a regular starter under Amorim.
Matthijs de Ligt and Lisandro Martinez have been the constant pairing in central defence for United this term. Yoro is expected to partner them in a new-look 3-4-2-1 formation.
Amorim has operated with a back three throughout his early managerial career, and he has already dropped a major hint that he won’t be changing his tactics at United.
Solidifying the defence could be Amorim’s prime objective after taking charge. United have been creating clear-cut chances, but they have also paid the price for poor defending.
Yoro could make his United debut at Ipswich Town on November 24. He was back in training last week and should improve his fitness in the ongoing break.
