The Everton Forum • Re: Financial Fairplay Investigation - Further 2 points deducted.
I think the basis of what you're saying has a semblance of "a possibilty" However..define "cheating" ? Did City "cheat" ? Did Everton, Forest Leicester Cheat or just try to bend the rules to suit considering no-one had/has any clarity of what the actual rules were....The media are reporting that there are four clubs lining up to sue City for compensation, should they be found guilty. Surely this is the perfect opportunity for Everton and Forest to really put pressure on the PL by notifying them of their intent to sue the Premier League for compensation, should City be found not guilty.
If City are found guilty, Liverpool, Man Utd, Arsenal and Tottenham intend to drag them through the courts for.loss of earnings, since they cheated. Therefore, if they are found not guilty, why can Everton and Forest not take similar legal action against the Premier League on the basis that they were unfairly punished for alleged cheating, whilst another member of the same group was allowed to get away scot free. We are talking millions of pounds in prize money that was forfeited last year, as a result of two separate points deductions, along with the impact the investigations and subsequent punishments have had on the Everton Football Club brand. Let's not forget that the club has been for sale throughout the process. Surely, the negative press around allegations of cheating and the punishments dished out would have had a negative effect on the clubs reputation and valuation. Then there is the cost of defending ourselves against the allegations and the cost of appeals, all of which puts a club already in a financially precarious position into even more trouble.
As we've just seen Chelsea got away with the sale to themselves scenario...cheating or just being clever to identify a loophole in the "rules" and get away with it....
