Teenage girl chased along road before being forced into car that sped off as police launch urgent appeal
A TEENAGE girl has been chased along road before being forced into a car that sped off – as police launch an urgent appeal.
The 5ft5 girl, believed to be in her mid-to-late teens, was seen being followed by a car along a lane in the Somerset town of Wincanton.
Its driver then got out and chased the girl along the lane – before she was forced into the vehicle, which drove off.
Cops have launched an urgent hunt for the girl after the scenes at around 10.30pm on Tuesday.
The man was white, in his early 20s, of medium build and slightly taller than the girl – with light brown hair falling below his ears.
The car was a dark-coloured, five-door hatchback and it is believed there were several people in it at the time.
Neighbourhood Inspector Rose Green said: “This incident will understandably cause significant concern.
“A thorough investigation is already well underway to fully establish the circumstances and ensure the girl is safe.
“Officers have been carrying out enquiries in the area today, including reviewing CCTV footage.
“We would encourage anyone who witnessed anything or who has any information to come forward.”
