Lady Gaga joins ‘Wednesday’ Season 2 opposite Jenna Ortega
Mother Monster will meet the Addams Family.
Oscar winner Lady Gaga has joined the cast of “Wednesday” for an undisclosed Season 2 role. Details of Lady Gaga’s part and the size of her role were not revealed but it is expected to be of the cameo variety.
Entertainment Weekly first reported the news, later confirmed by Gold Derby sister site Deadline.
“Wednesday” is one of Netflix’s biggest original series, and production on Season 2 is currently still ongoing. The series stars Jenna Ortega as the title character and was created by Alfred Gough and Miles Millar. Tim Burton, who later cast Ortega in “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice,” is the show’s executive producer and a key director.
That Lady Gaga will appear in Season 2 is certainly something extremely online fans of the show might love. In 2022, Lady Gaga posted a TikTok video of herself imitating Ortega’s viral dance from “Wednesday” Season 1. The following year, at the Golden Globes, Ortega commented on Lady Gaga’s appreciation of the show and stumped for the music icon and actress to appear in future seasons.
“I’m sure Netflix would love that,” Ortega told Variety about the possibility that Lady Gaga could join the show. “I think Mrs. Thornhill [Christina Ricci] and Wednesday had this weird mentor relationship or kind of understood each other in a certain way, so, if Lady Gaga were to be a part, I think it would have to be two monsters that understand each other.”
Other new additions to the Season 2 cast of “Wednesday” include Steve Buscemi, Joanna Lumley, Billie Piper, and Thandiwe Newton. Catherine Zeta-Jones and Luis Guzman are among the Season 1 stars returning to the show.
