Lafayette Parish School System gets final recommendations for school closures
LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) -- The Lafayette Parish School System announced Wednesday that it has received its final recommendations for district optimization from Civic Solutions Group.
LPSS said the full presentation will be available when the agenda for the Nov. 20 board meeting is released Monday afternoon.
The recommendations are the following Elementary schools will be closed. Duson, S-J Montgomery and Katharine Drexel Elementary schools will be closed. Acadian Middle and Lafayette Middle Schools will be closed. The only high school recommended is Comeaux high School.
The Nov. 20 meeting will be held at the school board's office and will begin at 4 p.m. Doors open at 3:30 p.m. Additional seating will be provided in adjacent rooms to accommodate a larger audience.
Regarding the public comment process, LPSS said a protocol for comments on agenda items will be released in the coming days, which will allow the public to provide input on any action items.
LPSS said the meeting will address routine business items first before showing the special presentation from Civic Solutions Group.
