102.7 WEQX celebrates 40 years
MANCHESTER, Vt. (NEWS10) -- A radio station that broadcasts from Vermont is marking a milestone. 102.7 WEQX turns 40 years old on November 14, 2024.
The independently-owned station's music can be heard in parts of New York, New Hampshire, Massachusetts and Vermont. You may know them from hosting Albany's PearlPalooza, or from bringing popular music acts to the stage at Tulip Fest.
The early 1900's house from where the DJs play their tracks is like a time capsule containing four decades of alternative music history. With records on the walls, and shelves of CDs at nearly every turn, the EQX crew is taking the big birthday as an opportunity to bask in the memories.
"We've been having an absolute blast reaching deep into the catalog of music, which is huge," said On-Air Host and Program Director Jeff Morad, "it stretches throughout this entire house. We've been digging deep, playing those cuts, taking listener stories, and sharing those about what kind of impact has this this station had in the 40 years it's been on."
The station's on-air schedule for the 40th anniversary on November 14 features hosts from EQX past and present, and an all-vinyl edition of Jam n Toast that will highlight listener favorites from the past 40 years.
