Wamego man dies after crash, 20-year-old hospitalized: KHP
WAMEGO (KSNT) - State troopers say a local man is dead following a crash south of Wamego on K-99 Highway Wednesday afternoon.
The Kansas Highway Patrol (KHP) said in a crash log that Chevy Silverado was traveling south on K-99 around 1:30 p.m. on Nov. 13 just north of Antelope Creek Road. A Honda CR-V was traveling north on K-99.
The KHP said the Chevy went left of center and hit the Honda in the northbound lanes. Both vehicles ended up in the east ditch of the highway.
The driver of the Chevy, a 20-year-old Manhattan man, was seriously injured in the crash and taken to a Topeka hospital for treatment. The driver of the Honda, a 69-year-old Wamego man identified as John W. Long, was taken to a local hospital but died of his injuries.
