'Vomit-in-your mouth-moment': Ex-DOJ officials unload on Trump's latest appointment
Former Justice Department officials rushed to denounce Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) as President-elect Donald Trump's choice for attorney general.
MSNBC host Nicolle Wallace quoted some sending out anonymous messages saying, "truly stunning" and "insane."
One source said, "I'm struggling to find the words."
But one looked on the bright side, "He is uniquely qualified. How many other prospective attorneys general had previous experience as the subject of a criminal investigation?"

She welcomed David Laufman, former chief of Counterintelligence and Export Control Section (CES) National Security Division at the Justice Department, saying that she didn't want to be glib about Gaetz as the nation's top prosecutor.
"Well, if you are not going to be glib, I will," he began. "This is really a vomit-in-your-mouth moment for alumni of the Department of Justice and for people around the United States who care about the rule of law."
He said that the Justice Department is the "cornerstone of the rule of law in our country," so a nomination like Gaetz's "reflects the crudest contempt and disrespect for the rule of law, Department of Justice as an institution, and for the thousands of men and women across the country who every day strive to carry out their mission to represent the people of the United States and the rules of the United States constitution and bring justice around this country."
