'Hold on?' CNN's Jim Acosta snaps as ex-Trump advisor tries to steamroll him
CNN's Jim Acosta on Thursday got into a heated discussion with Trump ally and former advisor David Urban over the president-elect's decision to nominate Fox News personality Pete Hegseth for defense secretary.
During the segment, Acosta played clips of Hegseth trashing America's military as too "woke."
When confronted with this, Urban claimed that Hegseth was only saying that there was room for improvement in America's armed forces.
"The tape that you ran there, Jim, there's obviously some things that I disagree with," he said. "I agree... the United States military is the best lethal fighting force in the world, they do incredible amounts of things right. But they do things wrong and there's room for improvement.
"Listen, we all sat on this set and we watched the China spy balloon float fecklessly across the United States ... and our military was kind of sitting there, not knowing what to do."
"Was that because of a 'woke' military?" Acosta interjected.

"No, no, no, Jim," he said. "But I'm just saying... there's things we can do better, we can improve. We can't meet our recruiting goals, we can't meet our retention goals. Something's going on in the military!"
But as he veered into criticizing the military's wokeness, Acosta hit back.
"They're worried about a green new deal rather than fighting wars," Urban said.
" What does that, what does than mean? I'm sorry, what has a green new deal got to do with the military?" interjected Acosta before Urban talked over him. "Hold on," said the Trump adviser.
"Hold on?" snapped back Acosta. "You've been talking for two minutes!"
He then complained about the military investing in electric vehicles as an example of a "woke" military policy.
This prompted an objection from fellow CNN guest Van Jones.
"In trying to make sure our military is more lethal, more efficient, they've integrated some clean and green and solar technologies just to make us more flexible, just to deal with supply lines," he said. "If you don't have to worry about oil and you can bring in a different type of technology, integrating technology into our military is a smart thing!"
