Trump attorney Alina Habba attacks Judge Merchan's 'family members' despite gag order
Alina Habba, an attorney and adviser to Donald Trump, lashed out at the "family members" of Judge Juan Merchan despite a gag order in the New York hush-money case.
As Trump was speaking in Washington D.C. for the first time since being re-elected, Habba launched an attack on Merchan's family during an appearance on Fox News Wednesday.
Habba argued that the case should be dismissed because Americans elected Trump to office for a second term. Trump faces sentencing this month after he was convicted of 34 felonies connected to hush money for an alleged affair with adult film star Stormy Daniels.
"I think he will dismiss," Habba said of Merchan. "There are influences with this judge that should not exist. There are financial influences with family members that should not exist. He should have recused."

"So when you're confused about his decisions and his moves, remember where the influence is coming from," she continued. "And no strong leader would allow himself, in that position, to be influenced like that."
In August, an appeals court upheld Merchan's gag order, which was put in place after Trump attacked the judge's daughter.
