Lafayette woman killed in Evangeline Thruway crash involving 18-wheeler
LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) -- The Lafayette Police Department is investigating a fatal crash involving an 18-wheeler and a sedan, authorities said.
The crash claimed the life of Nakisha Linzer, 44, of Lafayette.
The crash occurred at around 2 a.m. at the intersection of NW Evangeline Thruway and Chalmette Drive.
Investigators said the sedan was traveling northbound on NE Evangeline Thruway and the 18-wheeler was traveling southbound in the inside lane. The sedan made a left turn onto Chalmette Drive in front of the truck and was struck on the passenger side.
Linzer, the passenger in the sedan, was pronounced dead at the scene and the driver of that vehicle fled the location before police arrived, according to LPD.
The truck driver provided a voluntary breath sample but no signs of impairment were observed, authorities said.
