11/13/2024: Cool and Dry Stretch of Weather
The Latest Storm Tracker Forecast from Meteorologists Matt Mackie and Kevin Appleby:
Another big ridge of high pressure will keep us dry for a while longer, sending a cool flow from Canada for the next few days including below-average temperatures. Importantly, with the continued dry weather, the winds will take a break today and tomorrow, but will return as we go into the weekend. No big precipitation chances are on the horizon for us.
Temperatures Wednesday afternoon will peak in the low to mid 40s in most spots. Don't forget the shades and the heavier jacket on your way out the door!
We will lose any wind overnight tonight. With clear skies under that strong ridge of high pressure, it's all but certain this is not only our coldest night of the season, but also our coldest night in some 8 months. Low temperatures will be in the teens to around 20 degrees in most spots.
We will start similarly bright for Thursday, but a fading system to the west will deposit more cloud cover in our skies, particularly tomorrow afternoon. Temperatures will be very similar to where they'll end up today, mainly in the low to mid 40s across our area.
Temperatures start to moderate closer to and even above average by the time we get to Friday and Saturday, with upper 40s and lower 50s more common for highs. Winds will pick up as well - nothing off the charts - but any increase will also increase the risk for fire spread.
We will repeat this until it's no longer true - we desperately need significant precipitation around here! Showers from earlier this week did not amount to much. Next week, while rain chances are a bit higher, those chances for early next week don't look to yield that much measurable precipitation. For example, the current model average for Albany amounts to 0.00" of rain through Tuesday...
So even though the chance for a shower or two is greater Monday, it is far from a sure thing. Temperatures for Monday and Tuesday will be in the lower 50s with more clouds than sun.
