Me & my husband sleep in bunk beds – people think it’s super weird but I love climbing the ladder to my bed
A WOMAN has revealed that she and her husband choose to sleep in separate bunk beds every night.
Casey and Andy have king sized bunk beds, and after a kiss goodnight, Casey climbs up the ladder to snuggle with her cat.
The couple are very public about their unconventional sleeping arrangement online, which has led to thousands of comments questioning how they can sleep without skin to skin contact.
“A lot of people say that they would rather wake up in a sweating pool than be without their partner in the middle of the night,” she said, in a video posted to her TikTok channel.
“But being hot in our sleep is mine and Andy’s worst nightmare.”
Casey said that she and her husband use this tactic because it helps them to get a good night’s sleep, which is good for their mental and physical health.
They are also huge fans of having their own personal space.
She added that people think that because they sleep in separate beds, they must never touch each other.
However, she assured that she and her husband cuddle every night and every morning.
“The only difference is that after we’ve been laying together and embracing each other, I head on upstairs to my bunk, and cuddle the cat.
Each morning, when Casey wakes up, she asks Andy if he’s ready for a cuddle, and heads down the ladder to get in bed with him.
“It’s such a wonderful way to start your day,” she said.
Addressing her followers, she added that just because a couple doesn’t share a bed, doesn’t mean that they don’t have a loving relationship.
Casey’s (@caseyandandy) video, has likely left many people intrigued, as it has racked up over 4.6 million views on the video sharing platform.
TikTok users raced to the video’s comments section to share their thoughts.
One person said: “Sharing a bed is so ghetto.
Why you should consider 'sleep divorce'
Couples who find themselves struggling to get a good night’s sleep due to their partner’s habits might benefit from a ‘sleep divorce’. This term refers to the practice of sleeping in separate beds or even separate rooms to ensure both partners can enjoy a restful night’s sleep. While the idea of sleeping apart might seem drastic or unromantic, experts argue that it can actually improve the overall quality of a relationship.
Sleep disturbances caused by a partner can come in many forms, such as snoring, differing sleep schedules, or restless movements throughout the night. These disruptions can lead to chronic sleep deprivation, which has been linked to a range of health issues, including weakened immune function, impaired cognitive performance, and increased risk of chronic conditions like heart disease and diabetes. By opting for separate sleeping arrangements, couples can mitigate these negative effects and wake up feeling more refreshed and energised.
Moreover, a ‘sleep divorce’ doesn’t necessarily mean a lack of intimacy or connection in the relationship. Many couples find that by prioritising their sleep, they can be more present and affectionate during their waking hours. Separate sleeping arrangements can also create opportunities for more intentional and meaningful interactions, as partners may make a conscious effort to spend quality time together. Ultimately, the decision to sleep apart should be based on open communication and mutual agreement, with the aim of enhancing both partners’ well-being.
“Why do I get my own bed from childhood to adulthood then when I get a boyfriend I get half a bed? Such a scam.”
A second person added: “This actually sounds lovely, but no chance I’m taking the top bunk.
“He can be the one to climb a ladder after snuggling lol.”
A third person said: “My husband and I actually have separate bedrooms, and our marriage is perfect.”
A fourth person added: “I’m a light sleeper with insomnia. My husband snores loudly.
“Separate bedrooms have saved our marriage, my sanity, and his life!”
