SAUSALITO
Loaded gun seized
in burglary probe
A tip about potential auto burglars in Sausalito led police to detain two suspects and confiscate a loaded gun.
Police received a report about the suspects looking into vehicles at about 9:30 p.m. Sunday on Crescent Avenue, Lt. Brian Mather said. Police intercepted them as they were running away.
Larrius Jason Antonio White, 20, of San Francisco was arrested on suspicion of carrying a loaded and concealed semi-automatic handgun in public, possessing a high-capacity magazine, possessing burglary tools, resisting arrest and contributing to the delinquency of a minor, Mather said.
The other suspect, a 16-year-old San Francisco resident, was released to a guardian.

CRIME
Sentencing delayed
in fentanyl homicide
A Marin County Superior Court judge has ordered a defendant in a fentanyl fatality to be placed into custody until his sentencing.
Callen Scheffler, 35, of Santa Rosa pleaded guilty last month to an involuntary manslaughter charge, two counts of selling or transporting controlled substances and violating the conditions of his probation. He was allowed to remain free pending sentencing.
Scheffler purchased and supplied the cocaine and fentanyl that caused the fatal overdose of a friend last year, according to the Marin County Sheriff’s Office. Samantha Azzolino, 30, of Cloverdale was pronounced dead at Novato Community Hospital.
Scheffler was scheduled to be sentenced Tuesday, but the probation department requested more time to prepare because Scheffler had missed appointments with the staff.
Judge Kelly Simmons reprimanded the defendant, ordered him to jail and rescheduled the sentencing for Dec. 2. Scheffler faces a potential sentence of four to six years.

Contract set for
storm drain work
The Larkspur City Council has authorized a $117,480 contract for storm drain improvements on Via La Paz.
The contractor, WestRock Engineering of San Francisco, was the lowest of 11 bidders for the project, according to a staff report by Julian Skinner, the public works director. The highest bid was $294,458.
The project is a followup to the 2021 replacement of an above-ground storm drain pipe running downhill from Via La Paz to Corte Alejo, Skinner wrote.
The council approved the contract at its meeting on Nov. 6.
