‘Poker Face’ Season 2 adds even more guest stars: Awkwafina, Corey Hawkins …
Peacock announced on Tuesday it will be adding even more guest stars for “Poker Face” Season 2, including a recent Emmy winner.
Awkwafina (who took home an Emmy Award for producing the TV movie “Quiz Lady”) will appear in the mystery-of-the-week comedy series that’s centered around Charlie Cale (Natasha Lyonne), a former cocktail waitress who now solves crimes with her ability to determine whether someone is lying. The popular stand-up comedian is perhaps best known on screen for starring in the feature films “The Farewell” and “Crazy Rich Asians.”
Joining Awkwafina as a guest star in the second season of “Poker Face” will be Corey Hawkins (“Straight Outta Compton,” “The Piano Lesson”), Simon Rex (“Red Rocket,” “Blink Twice”), and Cliff “Method Man” Smith (“Power Book II: Ghost,” “The Deuce”), the streamer announced on Nov. 12. Details about all of their characters are being kept under wraps for now.
Peacock previously revealed that all of the following performers would appear in the new episodes of “Poker Face”: Giancarlo Esposito, Katie Holmes, Gaby Hoffman, Kumail Nanjiani, Sherry Cola, Kevin Corrigan, Ben Marshall, Kathrine Narducci, Cynthia Erivo, B.J. Novak, Margo Martindale, John Mulaney, Ego Nwodim, and Sam Richardson.
Season 1 premiered on Peacock in January 2023 to rave reviews and soon became certified fresh on Rotten Tomatoes. The first season received four Emmy nominations, including Best Comedy Actress for Lyonne, and earned Peacock its first Emmy win for Judith Light in Best Comedy Guest Actress for playing Irene Smothers in the episode titled “Time of the Monkey.”
The premiere date for “Poker Face” Season 2 has yet to be announced. Tony Tost serves as showrunner and executive producer for the second season, alongside executive producers Rian Johnson, Ram Bergman, Natasha Lyonne, Nena Rodrigue, Adam Arkin, Nora Zuckerman, and Lilla Zuckerman.
