Lake Charles man arrested in undercover operation, accused of computer-aided solicitation of a minor
LAKE CHARLES, La. (KLFY) -- A 28-year-old Lake Charles man was arrested Friday in an undercover operation in which law enforcement agents pretended to be a 16-year-old girl, authorities announced.
According to a news release from the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office, Wilson J. Washington III was booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and faces charges of indecent behavior with juveniles and computer-aided solicitation of a minor.
The sheriff's office said the arrest is the result of a joint undercover operation with the FBI and Louisiana State Police that targets online offenders attempting to solicit minors for sexual acts.
"Washington was chatting with what he thought to be a 16-year-old girl and messaging her about committing sexual acts. Detectives made contact with Wilson at a local park in Lake Charles, where he thought he was meeting up with the girl," the sheriff's office said.
Washington's bond was set at $150,000.
CPSO Special Victims Unit Det. Alexander Vincent is the lead investigator on this case.
