Man killed in deadly Topeka fire identified by police
TOPEKA (KSNT) - Police in Topeka have identified the person killed in a recent house fire that was ruled a homicide by investigators.
Rosie Nichols with the City of Topeka said in a press release on Nov. 12 that police have identified the victim as David S. Blevens, 46, of Topeka. The investigation into his death is ongoing.
Topeka firefighters were called around 6 p.m. on Oct. 6 for a house on fire in central Topeka in the 1600 block of Southwest Buchanan Street. One person was confirmed dead in the fire.
Witnesses recounted the fire to 27 News afterwards, describing hearing a series of loud "booms" coming from the area. Police later ruled the fire a homicide. No arrests have been made yet in connection to Blevens' death.
