Names of 5 men killed on Sunday are released, WPD names suspect
WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) -- On Tuesday, the Wichita Police Department released the names of the five men who were found shot to death in south Wichita on Sunday. Police also named the man who they believe was responsible.
The names of those killed are:
- Joshua Stickney, 42
- Anthony Stickney, 67
- Donald Dodge, 66
- Terry Meyer, 55, and
- Alan Young, 39
According to the WPD, investigators believe Joshua Stickney killed the others, then himself.
Two people called 911 around 5:45 p.m. on Sunday. They said they found a man with gunshot wounds in a home in the 1700 block of S. Santa Fe. When police arrived, they found Anthony Stickney's body.
Police said that the people who called 911 reported that Anthony's son, Joshua Stickney, was likely the last person at the house.
Officers went to Joshua Stickney's house in the 1900 block of S. Laura. Before they could get into the house, they saw two people inside who were not moving or responding to officers knocking on the door.
At 7:05 p.m., officers forced their way into the home and found three men with gunshot wounds. One was Dodge, who was Joshua's friend and neighbor. One was Meyer, Joshua's live-in stepfather. The third person was Joshua. Police said it appeared his wound was self-inflicted, and the was a gun at his feet.
In addition to investigating, officers tried to locate someone to take care of Joshua's pet. They were told to contact Young, one of Joshua's neighbors on Laura. When they went to Young's house, they saw him inside, unresponsive. Officers forced entry and found that he had also been shot.
The WPD says a preliminary ballistic examination provided a presumptive conclusion that the gun near Joshua's feet was the gun used in all the shootings.
Investigators are continuing to interview people and look through evidence to determine what led to the shooting. They say it does not appear to be a random act of violence.
"We do not have any information that the general public is in danger," WPD said.
