Vehicle fire leads to house fire in Moore
MOORE, Okla. (KFOR) - Gary Trueblood said early Tuesday morning he heard a car beeping. When he went out to make sure it wasn’t his, he made an alarming discovery.
"Came outside and saw the neighbor's car on fire,” said Trueblood.
The flames spread to the house on Ember Glow Dr., inside a neighborhood near NE 12th St. and Eastern Ave.
Trueblood and another neighbor immediately ran towards the burning home.
"I threw him my phone. I was like ‘hey call 911, while I try to get these people up’ and so I'm banging on the door, kicking at the door,” said Trueblood. “Because they got small kids, and I didn't want, you know, nothing to happen to them."
Trueblood said a man and his family eventually woke up and escaped the flames.
"I'm just being a neighborly person, you know, because I would want someone to do that for me,” said Trueblood.
Some witnesses reported hearing explosions, but firefighters said that sound was most likely from the burning tires.
Investigators are still trying to figure out what sparked the blaze. It was contained to the garage and attic.
Meanwhile, the truck is totaled.
"I'm just glad they got out and, you know, safe,” said Trueblood. “You got insurance on all this, but you don't get insurance on your life. You know, you only got one life."
Fire crews said they rescued a cat and dog from the house.
