YouTube Gold: Victor Wembanyama Has Taken It Up Another Level
San Antonio’s young giant is even more amazing this season.
Last year, Victor Wembanyama was a rookie sensation. At 7-4, he could do pretty much anything he wanted to on the court. He could shoot threes, block shots, lead the break - you name it. He had a brilliant rookie season.
This year he looks to have improved even more. The thing about Wembanyama is that he’s still painfully thin. It’s going to take him several years to bulk up. When he does though, he’s going to be even that much more imposing.
Watch this clip of him in action against the Sacramento Kings. We see what we got used to last year - the superb outside shooting, the occasional bit of ball handling you don’t expect from a 7-4 guy, the ability to run the court as well as anyone.
Aside from bulk, what more could he add to his game?
Well, look at this and see if you see a vastly improved court awareness. Last year it was more about him finding his way in the league. He has immense talent and you could see him figuring the NBA out.
Now?
Now he understands the league on a different level. As people say, it appears to have slowed down. At this rate, by the end of this season, Webanyama is going to be off the charts. And having a point guard in Chris Paul who brings 20 years of experience is going to help him immensely. We just hope he leaves the ball whacking out of it.
