Duke To Visit Army In 2025
An interesting and potentially powerful road trip next season
The basketball programs at Duke and Army have forged a relationship since Mike Krzyzewski left his alma mater to come south to Durham. Duke and Army have played several times since 1980 and while Duke has won every time, it’s still a positive occasion for everyone involved.
Most of the games have been in Durham, but Duke visited West Point in 1997.
They’ll return on Veteran’s Day in 2025, which is likely to be the sports highlight of the season at West Point.
Blue Devil coach Jon Scheyer had this to say about the visit:
“It’s always an honor to compete against Army, but we’re incredibly excited to have the opportunity to play at Army next year on Veterans Day in honor of all those who have served in our military.
“It’s a privilege to have the opportunity to play at West Point, to be in their culture, to be tested on the road early in the season, and to experience something that’s more meaningful than just a basketball game.
“Our program has had a longtime connection to Army with Coach [Mike Krzyzewski], and I’ve learned every year I’ve been at Duke as a player and assistant coach under Coach K about the principles and values that were instilled in him during his time at West Point. It’s going to be a special day celebrating our two programs and all those who have served in our armed forces.”
The game will be played in Christl Arena, a 5,043-seat, multi-purpose arena. It’s named after 1st Lieutenant Edward C. Christl Jr, a former basketball player who died in World War II.
There will be a return game in Cameron in 2026.
