Auchan Retail Luxembourg deploys Exotec’s Skypod System
Auchan Retail Luxembourg has made a significant leap in warehouse efficiency by becoming the first retailer in the Grand Duchy to implement Exotec’s Skypod System in its Dudelange warehouse. This innovative move is part of a broader trend where retailers are increasingly investing in automated warehouse systems to enhance their operations. According to Grand View Research, the global market for warehouse automation is projected to reach $51.12 billion by 2030, highlighting the growing importance of such technologies. The Skypod System, deployed in Auchan’s Dudelange warehouse, features 37 autonomous robots that efficiently navigate through high racks to retrieve products from 15,300 containers. These robots then transport the products to one of three dedicated picking stations, where the orders are finalized. This automation has significantly reduced the physical workload on warehouse employees, making their work lighter and more pleasant. Rémy Malchirand, EVP Sales Western Europe at Exotec, emphasized the benefits of this system: “By automating warehouse activities, Auchan has significantly increased the quality and reliability of the order picking process.
