‘He don’t have a resume’: Keyshawn Davis calls out Tank
Keyshawn Davis says he’s ready to face Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis
Keyshawn Davis picked up another win this past weekend, smashing Gustavo Lemos in the second round to improve to 12-0 (8 KO).
Now, the 25-year-old Davis, who won an Olympic silver medal at the Tokyo Games in 2021, has his sights set on the biggest name in the lightweight division: Gervonta “Tank” Davis, and he’s not been impressed with Tank’s career results.
“I want to fight him, bro, because he’s been tricking the boxing game for too long. He makes shit look good. He makes shit look better than what it is,” Davis said.
“What kind of resume he got? He don’t fucking have a resume, man.”
Tank Davis (30-0, 28 KO) is officially set to face Lamont Roach in a defense of his WBC lightweight title on Dec. 14, so the timing could line up for the two to meet in 2025, if Tank is successful as expected.
It’s also a familiar criticism of Gervonta, who many have felt has skirted taking on top competition in his career despite winning world titles at 130 and 135, and a kinda-world title at 140.
Keyshawn has also not faced top opposition, but he’s got just about a third of Gervonta’s pro fights, too, turning pro as a top prospect in early 2021 before taking part in the Tokyo games after three pro bouts. His second round stoppage of Lemos was his most destructive victory and arguably his most impressive to date, and he’s not been looking to wait until 20 fights to get into the world title mix.
Could we actually see Gervonta vs Keyshawn in 2025? Nothing’s impossible, but Tank is one of the few remaining PBC loyalists, and Keyshawn is obviously a Top Rank fighter. But if there’s money in it, it could definitely be on the table, and would see both fighters testing their high-end skills.
