Betsey Johnson Teams Up With Elton John’s AIDS Foundation on Curated Collection for Charity
Today, Betsey Johnson has launched a curated collection in collaboration with the Elton John AIDS Foundation. Spanning 59 products that include 25 pairs of shoes, the range supports the organization’s work to end LGBTQ+ stigma and work towards an AIDS-free future.
In time for holiday season, the collection features a multitude of shimmering sequined and rhinestoned options. There is the Vance pointed-toe flat with its slingback style flat. There’s also other options like the Joel slingback with its open-toe and bow embellishment which is a slingback heel done in light gold. The multicolored Jager heel, a strappy sandal with miniature disco ball embellishments is particularly festive. Prices for the footwear start off at about $80 but top out at an over-the-knee rhinestone cowboy boot that is available for $280.
Starting today and lasting through the end of the year, $1 per product purchased from the curation will be donated to Elton John AIDS Foundation. In addition, customers will be invited to donate on top of their purchase. These transactions will be facilitated by ShoppingGives. These funds would join the more than $600 million the foundation has raised over the years.
Betsey Johnson is a popular women’s footwear brand that people often turn to for the perfect blend of feminine whimsy. Her designs are often sequined, studded with rhinestones or otherwise embellished. This was perfectly put on display when Lupita Nyong’o worked with her stylist Micaela Erlanger to wear a series of Betsey Johnson pieces for her “A Quiet Place: Day One” press tour. This included her Carlos sandals with rosettes on the toes as well as a heart-shaped rotary-style phone-bag. For the designers 80th birthday in 2022, the company released an ’80s and 90’s inspired capsule collection.
In 2010, Johnson’s footwear business got a major boost when the company was bought by Steve Madden.
