HARLEM, Manhattan (PIX11) – Two people were charged in the shooting of a 7-year-old girl in Harlem on Monday, according to the NYPD.
Daniel Idowu, 19, was charged with attempted murder and criminal possession of a weapon. A 17-year-old boy was also charged with attempted murder, police said.
It happened on West 145th Street and Frederick Douglass Boulevard around 3 p.m. The child was shot in the abdomen before she was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to authorities.
The two suspects fired shots after hiding behind a parked car on the corner of West 145th Street, according to NYPD Deputy Chief Brian Gill. Police believe the shooting was gang-related.
"There were two intended people they were firing at mid-block on West 145th Street," Gill said.
