11/12/2024: Chilly and windy
The latest Storm Tracker Forecast from meteorologist Matt Mackie:
Bundle up! After some unseasonable warmth the past few weeks, November is back! Even with high pressure bringing sunny skies, gusty winds out of the north will bring in very chilly air.
Temperatures barely budge going into this afternoon, with highs only in the upper 40's. Between the wind, the dry conditions, and the low humidity, there is an extremely high risk of brush fires for much of the area today. Areas highlighted below are under a Red Flag Warning. Even a stray ember from a small campfire can cause big problems, and we've already seen wildfire smoke locally over the weekend. Play it safe - don't burn!
Temperatures tumble into the 20's for most tonight. Some in the mountains may dip down into the teens! Winds will ease up somewhat, but it'll still be breezy - with the chilly air, it doesn't take much to make it feel frigid.
Tomorrow looks bright and more calm, but we'll be in the thick of an awfully cool airmass at that point. Temperatures peak only in the 40's across the region.
Similarly chilly for much of the rest of the work week. Windy conditions are again expected Friday and Saturday. Temperatures look a bit more mild for the weekend, with morning lows in the 30's and afternoon highs at or just above 50.
Showers are possible on Monday, but it doesn't look like we'll see enough to completely alleviate the dry conditions we've seen over the past month. Fire danger will remain elevated for the foreseeable future.
