Saudi Arabia hosts Emergency Summit, calls for ceasefire in Gaza and Lebanon
Saudi Arabia held an emergency summit of Islamic leaders in Riyadh, calling on the international community to stop “Israeli aggression against the people of Palestine and Lebanon.”
Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, as host, defended the sovereignty of the Islamic Republic of Iran in what he described as an unprecedented manner and urged a halt to Israeli attacks against Iran’s territorial integrity.
He accused Israel of committing genocide in Gaza and called on the international community to “fulfill its responsibilities to maintain international peace and security and stop Israeli aggression against the people of Palestine and Lebanon.”
Leaders from many Islamic and Arab countries, including Turkey, Lebanon, Palestine, and Syria, attended this extraordinary summit in Riyadh.
The summit’s main objectives included condemning Israel’s attacks, discussing a two-state solution establishing independent states for Palestine and Israel, and preventing the expansion of conflict in the Middle East.
The participating Islamic and Arab leaders issued a final resolution, not only calling for an end to “Israeli aggression against Palestine and Lebanon” but also demanding compensation from Israel to the people of Gaza.
The Riyadh summit highlighted a unified stance among Islamic nations in response to the escalating tensions in Gaza and the broader Middle East. By calling for international intervention and advocating for peace and sovereignty, the summit underscored the urgent need for diplomatic solutions to prevent further escalation in the region.
