AT least 35 people are dead and 43 are injured after a driver fuming from his divorce rammed his SUV into a crowd.
The horror smash happened in China – with Xi Jinping urging “all-out efforts” to save the survivors.
The 62-year-old driver, with the surname Fan, reportedly then stabbed himself in the neck in an act of self-harm and went into a coma, Global Times reports.
Initial police reports said the sick man circled the sport complex several times and drove down exercisers after he became dissatisfied with the division of property in a divorce.
Video published on Chinese social media show bodies lying on the ground in pools of blood.
Those who dodged the speeding motor bravely tended to the people who had been hit – but 27 ambulances were still needed to treat the injured.
The driver reportedly circled the complex several times before police arrived when the attack happened on Monday.
Videos were quickly censored from social media by Chinese authorities, a report claimed.
The sports complex, located in the southern city of Zhuhai, Guangdong Province, was popular with joggers and walkers.
The tragedy comes just a day before the city was set to host a major airshow that features China’s new J-35 stealth fighter.
