Bottom Line: Veterans push for green cards for Afghan allies
Immigration
With Honor Action, a 501(c)(4) nonprofit that advocates for veteran leadership in public service, hired Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck to lobby on issues related to the Afghan Adjustment Act.
The bipartisan legislation would extend lawful permanent resident status to individuals who supported the U.S. mission in Afghanistan, many of whom have faced threats of persecution under the Taliban, which took control of the country as American troops withdrew in August 2021.
One of the lobbyists on the account is Brian McGuire, former chief of staff to Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.).
World Cup
Sea2026, Seattle’s organizing committee for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, hired Thompson Consulting Group to lobby for funding for security, transportation and other planning needs ahead of the tournament. The lobbyist on the account is Tim Thompson, who worked for former Rep. Norm Dicks (D-Wash.) before entering private practice and launching his firm.
Appropriations
The disaster relief nonprofit Good360 hired Potomac Strategic Development Company to lobby on issues related to appropriations. Stephen Carey, who spent 20 years on Capitol Hill including stints as legislative director for two members of the House Appropriations Committee, will work on the account.
Health care
The organ donation advocates at Network for Hope hired Maynard Nexsen to promote improvements in organ donation, transportation, transplantation and survivability. Donald Cutrell, a Senate Appropriations Committee alum and chief of staff to former Sen. Richard Shelby (R-Ala.), will work on the account.
Food
Trustwell, a food industry-focused software company, hired Tusk Strategies to lobby on issues related to food safety. The lobbyist on the account is Kelsey Bensch, former content and multimedia producer in the House and a State Department alum.
Haro Solutions also registered last week to lobby on food safety issues on behalf of Trustwell. Steve Haro, who served as chief of staff to former Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.), will work on the account.
