Warrior Soccer Falls in Season Opener
MANHATTAN, KS – August 30, 2016 – The Calvary University Men’s Soccer team was defeated on the road during their season opener at Manhattan Christian College.
“In terms of the game yesterday, it was pretty evident that the opposing team came well prepared into their 2016 season. Our guys fought hard, they didn’t give up, but were outplayed in all aspects of the game. There were a couple good chances we had to score, namely in the second half, but we weren’t able to get the ball in the back of the net,” said Coach Nichols.
The Warriors finished the game with a total of five shots on goal, and first-year goalkeeper Paulbryant Holyfield had 17 saves. However, Calvary was unable to keep pace with the Thunder’s powerful attack and finished the game behind 18-0
“We’re looking to continue improving little by little, looking forward to our next match this Saturday, and to definitely make some significant improvements as the season goes along.”
The Warriors will travel to Haviland, Kansas this weekend to take on Barclay College, Saturday at 2:00.
