4 big changes | Expected Man Utd line-up (4-2-3-1) vs Leicester City, Garnacho & Ugarte decisions made
Manchester United will be aiming for a second-straight win when they host Leicester City in the Premier League this afternoon.
The Red Devils registered a 2-0 victory over PAOK in the Europa League on Thursday.
Their performance was far from impressive, but they secured their first win in the European competition after a second-half brace from Amad Diallo.
United now need to return to winning ways in the top flight. If other results go their way, they can reduce the gap to the top four to just four points.
Today’s game will be Ruud van Nistelrooy’s final one on temporary charge. Ruben Amorim will formally join as the permanent manager tomorrow.
Formation: 4-2-3-1
Predicted Line-up:
Andre Onana has been in superb form this season with several exceptional saves. He is expected to keep his place between the sticks against the Foxes.
There should be two defensive changes from the midweek win, with Victor Lindelof and Jonny Evans dropping to the bench for Matthijs de Ligt and Lisandro Martinez.
Diogo Dalot has looked vulnerable as a left-back. He will likely feature on the right, with Noussair Mazraoui on the opposite flank. The Moroccan won 13 duels versus Chelsea from left-back.
Manuel Ugarte had another tough outing in the heart of the midfield. He won just two out of eight duels contested while losing possession on nine occasions. He could be dropped.
Christian Eriksen could partner Casemiro in the centre of the park after recovering from injury. The Dane has been United’s best creative presence in midfield, with seven goal involvements this term.
Amad Diallo will most certainly start after his second-half showing in midweek.
The Ivorian was guilty of losing possession 13 times in the opening half but made amends with two splendid goals. This should guarantee his spot on the right side of United’s attack.
Alejandro Garnacho has probably been United’s worst performer in the final third in recent outings. Marcus Rashford may get the nod to start over him on the left wing.
Bruno Fernandes is a nailed-on starter in the number 10 role. The same can be said for Rasmus Hojlund up front, considering Joshua Zirkzee has barely impressed leading the line.
Hojlund also needs a massive improvement, having registered just four passes from 89 minutes on Thursday. The Dane must prove his worth with a goal before Amorim’s arrival.
