Instant Analysis: Complimentary football the key to Longhorns' success moving forward
AUSTIN (KXAN) — No. 5 Texas put it all together in a 49-17 win over Florida on Saturday, and while there were some things to clean up, the Longhorns will need to replicate the effort for the rest of the season.
Texas allowed nearly 200 rushing yards but kept the Gators out of the end zone until late in the third quarter. Texas also had seven penalties for 70 yards — a little high — but they played so well that the miscues were rendered somewhat irrelevant.
It was a breakthrough for the Longhorns in making the opposing team pay for turnovers. Before today's 21 points of three turnovers, Texas wasn't very good at cashing takeaways in for touchdowns. Against the Gators, they were perfect.
