Dejan Kulusevski leads the way in final-third Premier League stat
While there are many impressive stats that Dejan Kulusevski has posted this season, WhoScored have now revealed one stat about the Swede that would surprise many observers.
Ange Postecoglou’s big tactical call
Many have suspected for a while that Kulusevski might be more effective centrally than out-wide, including the player himself.
However, while the decision might have seemed obvious with hindsight, it was still a brave call by Ange Postecoglou, not least because it has rendered James Maddison less effective.
Spurs are now reaping their rewards for Postecoglou’s brave decision, with the 24-year-old imposing himself on matches regularly and making a decisive impact in the final third.
Interesting Kulusevski stat
Many Tottenham fans would have already seen the impressive stats that Kulusevski has posted this season when it comes to distance covered and chance creation.
WhoScored have now revealed that the Swede is also one of the most effective pressers in the league, having won the ball more times in the attacking third than any other player in the division.
It is extremely impressive for a number eight to have the most final third ball recoveries than a forward and shows just how high Postecoglou’s men press the opposition.
Tottenham’s pressing monsters
In Dominic Solanke, Brennan Johnson and Dejan Kulusevski, Spurs now boast of three of the best-pressing attackers in the Premier League.
The trio are all among the fittest players in the division and they tire out the opposition defenders and midfielders by constantly hurrying them.
It is thus no surprise that Spurs win the ball high up the pitch as many times as they do and get many of their goals in the latter part of matches when opposition sides tire.
