Chris Sutton makes bullish ‘100%’ claim about Spurs and Arsenal
Chris Sutton was asked if he would rather have a season ticket at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium or the Emirates, and the pundit insists the answer is a no-brainer.
Two very different sides
Most Spurs fans will admit that Arsenal are ahead of them in their development even though there are only two points separating the two sides on the table.
Mikel Arteta has now been in the Emirates for five years and is while Ange Postecoglou has only been in the job for 16 months.
A top-four finish would be considered a relatively successful season for Spurs this time out, but the same cannot be said of the Gunners, given how close they came to winning the title last campaign.
Chris Sutton makes big claim about Spurs and Arsenal
Irrespective of where the two sides stand at the moment, Sutton believes that Tottenham are far more entertaining to watch than their North London rivals.
The former Celtic striker told BBC 606: “Well, thank God for Spurs, Rob. I mean, the only entertainers, they were brilliant, weren’t they, against Aston Villa? Angeball at its best.
“Leading scorers now in the Premier League. Won nine out of the last 11. You know, you have people complaining about Spurs. There’s nothing wrong with Spurs, Rob. Absolutely sensational performance.”
His co-host Robbie Savage then asked: “I’ll tell you what, would you rather have a season ticket at Spurs where they possibly won’t win anything, or Arsenal where they got a chance of winning something?”
Sutton responded: “Did you watch Arsenal play? Who is the better watch? 100%, I would rather have a Spurs season ticket than an Arsenal one. Arsenal don’t, they’re too pragmatic, Rob.”
Arteta and Postecoglou are very different coaches
Arteta has shown over the course of his time at Arsenal that he does not necessarily subscribe to one way of playing. He is a pragmatist who is willing to do what is necessary to get a result.
Postecoglou, on the other hand, belongs to the Guardiola school of thought, and will never move away from his main principles of play.
While that does not mean the Australian will not make tactical tweaks here and there, what is clear is that he will always work on perfecting plan A rather than coming up with a plan B or plan C.
