Westlake, Dripping Springs meet in regular season finale with playoffs on horizon
AUSTIN (KXAN) — Westlake and Dripping Springs clash to cap the regular season at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Tiger Stadium, and with a win, the Chaparrals can wrap up a perfect District 26-6A season.
Westlake, ranked No. 11 in the latest Texas Football Class 6A Top 25, has won six consecutive games while Dripping Springs is coming off a bye after defeating Del Valle 39-17 on Oct. 25.
Both teams will advance to the playoffs regardless of the outcome. Based on their enrollment, Westlake will be in the Division I bracket and the Tigers will be in Division II.
Dripping Springs running back Jack Tyndall is nearing the benchmark for all ball carriers, the 1,000-yard season, with 843 yards. He'll have at least two more games (including this one) to crack the barrier. Quarterback Maddox Maher has thrown for 28 touchdowns against four interceptions while completing 68% of his passes. Junior receiver Cooper Reid has 13 scores with 737 receiving yards.

For Westlake, junior quarterback Rees Wise has completed 69% of his passes for 1,497 yards with 15 touchdowns and four interceptions. Grady Bartlett leads the Chaps on the ground with 459 rushing yards and nine touchdowns while Cal Livengood has hauled in 24 catches for 419 yards. Defensively, senior linebacker Elliot Schaper is averaging almost eight tackles per game and has 16 tackles for loss on the season. He leads the district with nine quarterback sacks.
