Ex-Pendleton police officer sentenced to federal prison for possessing child porn
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- A former Pendleton police officer was sentenced to over seven years in prison for possession of child porn.
Cameron Jacob Sheoships, 57, will serve five years of supervised release in addition to his prison term. His guilty plea included an enhancement because of a history of abusive behavior that started in the 1990s, officials said.
In August 2022, the FBI got its first tip which prompted an investigation that connected Sheoships to accounts that had posted inappropriate content. A year later, federal search warrants uncovered an extensive amount of child exploitation-related content on Sheoships' phone in May 2023.
"On June 13, 2023, a federal grand jury in Portland returned an indictment charging Sheoships with possessing child pornography and, on April 24, 2024, he pleaded guilty to the single charge," officials said.
