James Maddison stance on being dropped to Spurs bench revealed
GiveMeSport have revealed what James Maddison is now thinking after being left out of Tottenham’s starting eleven in their last two domestic matches.
James Maddison is no longer a guaranteed starter
Maddison did not start Tottenham‘s clashes against Manchester City and Aston Villa, with Ange Postecoglou opting to go for more steel and running power in the middle of the park by playing Dejan Kulusevski alongside Pape Sarr and Rodrigo Bentancur.
If the Australian continues to stick with a similar set-up of using just one attack-minded player in midfield, it is going to be hard for the England international to force himself back into the team, given the form Kulusevski is in at the moment.
The former Leicester man responded in the best way possible, coming off the bench to score a fabulous free-kick against Villa on Sunday.
Maddison was then named in the starting XI to face Galatasaray, but came off with Spurs still searching for an equaliser. He will be hoping to earn his first domestic starting spot in three games this weekend.
Maddison is determined to get back into the team
GiveMeSport say that far from feeling sorry for himself or hard done by, Maddison is now determined to force his way back into Postecoglou‘s starting eleven.
The 27-year-old is allegedly keen to show the Spurs boss what he can do and to regain his previously held position as one of the first names in the team sheet.
The outlet adds that the attacking midfielder believes that the next two fixtures against Galatasaray and Ipswich may prove the ideal platform for him to showcase his value to the coaching staff.
Maddison expected to start against Ipswich
Interestingly, GiveMeSport say that Maddison is expected to be handed a start in Tottenham’s Premier League clash against Ipswich Town on Sunday in place of Pape Sarr.
It is explained that since Spurs are expected to have a lot of the ball against Kieran McKenna’s side, Postecoglou wants to play the Englishman alongside Kulusevski in the middle of the park.
